Recite a verse
Meditate on a suitable verse and recite it until you feel that emotion. As you repeat the verse, imagine the emotion is going up in intensity.
For example, to amplify the emotion joy, you could recite ‘In your presence there is fullness of joy.’ or ‘അങ്ങയുടെ സന്നിധിയില് ആനന്ദത്തിന്റെ പൂര്ണതയുണ്ട്’. You may also listen to the audio version of the verse in repeat mode (given below). Imagine you are in the presence of God and feel joy. As you recite the verse, feel the intensity of joy going up gradually. Let it spread to the whole body. Stay in that state of joy for some time. | How do you want to feel now?
Use visualization: Close your eyes and imagine your mind is a jar, and joy is being poured into it. As you recite the verse, the jar is filled up with joy and it overflows. Feel the sensation in your mind and body. Or you could imagine a balloon getting inflated gradually; imagine you are bursting with joy.
To amplify further, imagine a situation where you experienced immense joy, such as an adoration, retreat or Holy Mass. Hold that joy in your mind and imagine the Divine Mercy is in front of you. Visualize the rays of joy from Jesus falling on you. Your mind and body are filled with immense joy. Every cell of your body vibrating in pure joy. Joy in you is overflowing and spreading to the people around you, your house, your locality, … to the whole universe. (You might have noticed your facial expressions have changed – a smiling face to start with.) Stay in that state of joy for some time.
Try to amplify your joy by 10 times, 100 times, 1000 times by repeating the process. Practice it daily.
NLP Technique: Choose a positive emotion you want to amplify, such as joy or gratitude. Recall an instance where you felt that emotion in intensity. Replay the scene in your mind, focusing on the positive emotions associated with it. Engage your senses by vividly imagining the trigger and the associated positive feelings. Use empowering language and positive affirmations to intensify the positive emotions.
