Causes, consequences and ways of getting out of a debt-trap
ധനികന് ദരിദ്രന്റെ മേല് ഭരണം നടത്തുന്നു; കടം വാങ്ങുന്നവന് കൊടുക്കുന്നവന്റെ അടിമയാണ്. (സുഭാഷിതങ്ങള് 22:7) | The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender. (Proverbs 22:7)
Debt will lead to economic slavery. When you are in debt, you will not enjoy your labor. So the best thing is to not go into debt.
നിങ്ങളുടെ സ്ഥിതിയെപ്പറ്റി ചിന്തിക്കുവിന്. നിങ്ങള് ഏറെ വിതച്ചു, കുറച്ചുമാത്രം കൊയ്തു. നിങ്ങള് ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നു, ഒരിക്കലും തൃപ്തരാകുന്നില്ല. നിങ്ങള് പാനം ചെയ്യുന്നു, തൃപ്തി വരുന്നില്ല. നിങ്ങള് വസ്ത്രം ധരിക്കുന്നു, ആര്ക്കും കുളിരു മാറുന്നില്ല. കൂലി ലഭിക്കുന്നവന് അതു ലഭിക്കുന്നത് ഓട്ടസഞ്ചിയില് ഇടാന്മാത്രം! …ആകാശം നിങ്ങള്ക്കു വേണ്ടി മഞ്ഞുപെയ്യിക്കുന്നില്ല; ഭൂമി വിളവു നല്കുന്നുമില്ല. (ഹഗ്ഗായി 1:6)
എന്തുകൊണ്ട്? – സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ കര്ത്താവ് ചോദിക്കുന്നു. നിങ്ങള് ഓരോരുത്തരും തന്റെ ഭവനത്തെപ്രതി വ്യഗ്രത കാട്ടുമ്പോള് എന്റെ ആലയം തകര്ന്നു കിടക്കുന്നതു കൊണ്ടു തന്നെ. (ഹഗ്ഗായി 1:9)
Give careful thought to your ways. You have planted much, but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it. … the heavens have withheld their dew and the earth its crops. (Haggai 1:6)
Why?” declares the Lord Almighty. “Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with your own house. (Haggai 1:9)
If you want to arrest financial decline, you will have to direct some of your resources towards God’s purpose.
ഒരുപിടി സ്വസ്ഥതയാണ് ഇരുകൈകളും നിറയെയുള്ള അധ്വാനത്തെക്കാളും പാഴ്വേലയെക്കാളും ഉത്തമം. (സഭാപ്രസംഗകന് 4:6) | Better one handful with tranquility than two handfuls with toil and chasing after the wind. (Ecclesiastes 4:6)
മകനേ, നമ്മള് ദരിദ്രരായിത്തീര്ന്നതില് നിനക്ക് ആധി വേണ്ടാ. നിനക്കു ദൈവത്തോടു ഭക്തി ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കുകയും നീ പാപത്തില് നിന്ന് ഒഴിഞ്ഞു നില്ക്കുകയും അവിടുത്തേക്കു പ്രീതികരമായത് അനുഷ്ഠിക്കുകയും ചെയ്താല് നിനക്കു വലിയ സമ്പത്തു കൈവരും. (തോബിത് 4:21) | Do not be afraid, my son, because we have become poor. You have great wealth if you fear God and flee from every sin and do what is good in the sight of the Lord your God. (Tobit 4:21)
മണ്ണില് അധ്വാനിക്കുന്നവനു വേണ്ടത്രആഹാരം കിട്ടും; പാഴ്വേല ചെയ്യുന്നവന് കടുത്ത ദാരിദ്ര്യമനുഭവിക്കും. (സുഭാഷിതങ്ങള് 28:19) | Those who work their land will have abundant food, but those who chase fantasies will have their fill of poverty. (Proverbs 28:19)
Focus on productive and rewarding activities, instead of chasing fantasies.
ജ്ഞാനിയുടെ ഭവനത്തില് അമൂല്യനിധികള് ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കും; ഭോഷന് സമ്പത്തു ധൂര്ത്തടിച്ചുകളയുന്നു. (സുഭാഷിതങ്ങള് 21:20) | The wise have wealth and luxury, but fools spend whatever they get. (Proverbs 21:20)
Spending recklessly is a sure way to get into debt. Don’t spend more than what you earn. Have a habit of saving.
അവരെല്ലാവരും ഭക്ഷിച്ചു തൃപ്തരായി. ബാക്കിവന്ന കഷണങ്ങള് പന്ത്രണ്ടു കുട്ട നിറയെ അവര് ശേഖരിച്ചു. (മത്തായി 14:20) | They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. (Matthew 14:20)
Don’t waste food or resources. Have an anti-waste policy just like what Jesus had.
അഞ്ചു താലന്തു കിട്ടിയവന് വന്ന്, അഞ്ചു കൂടി സമര്പ്പിച്ച്, യജമാനനേ, നീ എനിക്ക് അഞ്ചു താലന്താണല്ലോ നല്കിയത്. ഇതാ, ഞാന് അഞ്ചുകൂടി സമ്പാദിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. യജമാനന് പറഞ്ഞു: കൊള്ളാം, നല്ലവനും വിശ്വസ്തനുമായ ഭൃത്യാ, അല്പകാര്യങ്ങളില് വിശ്വസ്തനായിരുന്നതിനാല് അനേകകാര്യങ്ങള് നിന്നെ ഞാന് ഭരമേല്പിക്കും. നിന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ സന്തോഷത്തിലേക്കു നീ പ്രവേശിക്കുക. (മത്തായി 25:14) | He who had received the five talents came forward, bringing five talents more, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me five talents; here, I have made five talents more.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ (Matthew 25:14)
Make sound investments so that your money can grow.
അനായാസമായി നേടിയ സമ്പത്തു ക്ഷയിച്ചു പോകും; അല്പ്പാല്പ്പമായി കരുതി വയ്ക്കുന്നവന് അതു വര്ധിപ്പിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കും. (സുഭാഷിതങ്ങള് 13:11) | Wealth hastily gotten will dwindle, but those who gather little by little will increase it. (Proverbs 13:11)
Stay away from ‘get-rich-quick’ schemes of making money. Have a habit of investing steadily.
ദരിദ്രനെ സമ്പന്നനാക്കാന് കർത്താവിന് ഒരു നിമിഷം മതി. കർത്താവിന്റെ അനുഗ്രഹമാണ് ദൈവഭക്തന് സമ്മാനം. അതു ക്ഷണനേരം കൊണ്ട് പൂവണിയുന്നു. (പ്രഭാഷകൻ 11:21-22) | Amen – msg. | It is easy in the sight of the Lord to make the poor rich suddenly, in an instant. The blessing of the Lord is the reward of the pious, and quickly God causes his blessing to flourish. (Sirach 11:21-22)
Don’t get discouraged if you are going through financial troubles. It is temporary. Trust the Lord to bless you with abundance.
