Tips to control feelings of envy
- Admire the thing that other person has attained or accomplished. Learn from people who achieved greater success. Remind yourself about your unique life purpose and goals. Drop desires that are not aligned to your goals. If you still desire to have the good things other people have, decide to work harder and better and strive for greater success. Ensure you are not a victim of the media ads that rekindle and amplify desires and envy.
- Know that people are all different and unique. Stop comparing yourself with others; if you compare, compare with the less fortunate. Feel worthy and magnificent. See others as an extension of yourself. Know that you are connected to everybody in the universe (you are a part of the body of Christ). Recognize the presence of God in others. Feel oneness with others.
- Feel gratitude; count your blessings.
- Bless people whom God has blessed. “A man reaps what he sows” (Galatians 6:7); so you get what you give!. Switch to a state of abundance. Visualize abundance for you and it is overflowing to others.
